LCS Sponsors Brookline Hub Youth Awards

Gladys Ruiz, Director/Owner at the Brookline Hub Youth AwardsLittle Children Schoolhouse is a proud sponsor of the 2011 Brookline Hub Youth Awards program. The event celebrated and encouraged acts of service, community and leadership by Brookline's youth in grades 7 through 12. 

LCS strongly believes active participation within the community is a life-long responsibility.  Community service is an important part of our curriculum at Little Children Schoolhouse, and sponsoring the Youth Awards was a natural extension of this commitment.  

The event, held February 28, 2011 at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, honored fourteen Award Winners and twenty-five Honorable Mentions. All proceeds from the event were donated to the Brookline Teen CenterGladys Ruiz, Director/Owner presenting Award sponsored by Little Children Schoolhouse at the Brookline Hub Youth Awards

Little Children Schoolhouse Director, Gladys Ruiz, introduced and presented the Award to recipient Leslie Suriel, a sophomore at Brookline High School. In addition to receiving the LCS-sponsored award, Leslie was also named Youth of the Year for her work in the community as a member of the Student Action for Justice and Education club and Brookline High School-Emerson Literacy Partnership, her exceptional academic achievements and work as a Steps to Success intern.

The staff and administration at Little Children Schoolhouse congratulates Leslie and all teens involved in the Youth Awards program for their inspirational work and achievements.
